ABOUT ATHENA

How I got this thing started

 

Hi, I'm Athena, the big kahuna of this home-based baking operation. By day, I work towards my degree as an Agriculture major at Illinois State University.

 

For me, baking started as a childhood hobby and quickly turned into a total obsession. I took what I learned from my awesome mom and just ran with it. I pored over cookbooks and countless websites to become like the pastry chefs I emulated. And although I have no formal culinary training, my years of research, observation, and (lots of) trial and error have helped me produce work that I'm very proud of.

 

 *A very special thanks to two of my fave high school teachers, Mrs.Angel and Mrs.Mitchell, for making me the baker I am today, a big shout out to my buddy Colleen for coming up with the clever name for this site, and another one to my mom, for letting me make huge messes in the kitchen for years.
